Police Officer stole from colleagues to meet payday loans

062-police-hatA detective being chased by payday loan companies steals £800 from colleagues and prisoners but escapes jail sentence. (10/9/13).

The Detective Constable, aged 43, claimed he was unable to 'scrape by on his pay cheque' while based at Plaistow Police Station in east London.

The officer - thought to earn at least £30,000 a year - has now thrown away his career and a lucrative pension admitting thefts totalling just £823.40.

Three property bags containing some of the cash he had taken were discovered at his £500,000 home in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire on June 11.
