The Money Hour - Sunday 5 August 2018 (48 mins 05 secs with news bulletins removed)

The show opens with Clive asking Mike to describe what a debt counsellor actually does and the type of people they can help. Mike then reveals the three main categories why people fall into unmanageable debt and the cost, according to The Money Charity, of how much it is per day to raise a child from birth to 21 with two parents and then for a lone parent, there is a marked difference.

Mike then discusses with Clive his very recent telephone conversation with a police officer (who remained anonymous) who had £55,000 of unsecured debts on credit cards and personal bank loans.

Just before the callers start Clive asks Mike if the recent rise on interest rates will have an impact on people already with debt problems and if so then what can they do if for example can no longer afford their monthly debt management plan (DMP) or Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) payment.
