Clive opens the show asking Mike to explain the kind of people he has helped in the past with debt problems and then goes through the four key reasons (triggers) that a person can experience which is later identified as the main cause of why they now have unmanageable debt.
Mike is then asked to comment on new analysis recently published by the Trades Union Congress, TUC, showing that household debt is well above the £290bn peak in 2008 ahead of the financial crisis and is still rising.
06.40 Call 1 Ab Dee in Ealing was looking for information on his bank overdrafts and credit card debt of £15,000 and how he could dissociate himself on his credit file from his twin brother who has the same initials, date of birth and address.
10.30 Call 2 Ian in The Wirral wanted to know what to do with the offer of £40,000 from his mother to pay off his mortgage and credit card debts of £18,000.
15.31 Call 3 Hussain from Barking has £10,000 of unmanageable debt on credit cards and has been taking out payday loans to pay these debts and wonted to know if he could go bankrupt.
23.48 In this section Mike tells the tale of how a consumer went bankrupt with £36,000 of credit card debt only to have £46,000 paid out in Payment Protection Insurance (PPI), the outcome will surprise you.
25.00 Call 4 Leon in Wealdstone was looking for information about his mortgage arrears of £2,500 along with a charging order and credit card debts.
30.52 Call 5 David in Edinburgh has been using loans and credit cards to the sum of £7,000 for investments purposes with gold and silver.
32.35 Call 6 Ash in Croydon called to say he could not afford the bankruptcy fee for his debts of £60,000.
36.03 Call 7 Richard in Mansfield was looking for information on renewing his mortgage deal but said he has mortgage arrears of £1,400 and can no longer work due a bad car accident.
40.26 Text from Chris in Bristol "Would being on a debt management plan affect a future mortgage application?"
40.55 Call 8 Surresh in Hayes was looking for information on consolidating his credit cards debts as his minimum payments are not reducing the debt.
44.02 Call 9 Rob in Wickford previously had a debt relief order (DRO) and wanted to know if this would still be recorded on his credit file as he was thinking of working in the Financial Services and wondered if the DRO would jeopardise his employment.
